Pre Holiday Toddler Clothing Spree DISNEY!!!

So for the last 6 months, we've been picking up items for Mia for our holiday and now I'm sat staring at it all I thought I'd do a bit of a pre Disney haul. Whilst I'm not massive on character clothing, we're off to Disney so I've embraced it...and you can't have too much Minnie stuff right??

First up this super cute Minnie dress. This was actually a gift at Christmas and it only now fits perfectly so will look amazing in Disney. It's from H & M and I bought these black and red bows and bobbles from Tesco to match.

Next little Minnie outfit, top is from Miniclub (boots) and the leggings from George. I just LOVE the ruffle sleeves on this top.

This next one was one of the very first bits I saw and had to have! I just love the colour and as a little playsuit, it will keep Mia cool in (*hopefully*) hot weather. The bobble was also from Tesco and matches perfectly.

This Minnie top again was a gift, but I love the design and the colour. Along with some staple leggings from Next & H & M.

Another related item, was this Paris Top. This will be perfect for our last day when we hope to head into Paris. It was from Matalan (for a bargain £3!!) along with this fluffy rose jumper for the evenings.

Not Disney related but super cute little sun tops/dresses are these, again from Miniclub. I think i'll match these with some white crop trousers or denim shorts. Again, great to keep cool and will look great all summer.

Accessories ~

Hat ~ Miniclub (Sooooo cute on)
Sunglasses ~ Monsoon £7
Socks ~ Miniclub

Shoes ~ Flip Flops Next £7 Mia had last years design too and they were great so had to repurchase this year. They look so comfy and last really well.
Converse ~ Schuh £27 There will be a ton of walking done and since the pushchair is becoming more and more redundant, we needed good comfy walking shoes.

Next a few completely random items which have mainly been purchased after reading other blogs about Disney and tips and tricks.

Autograph book ~ Disney Store. Buying this here I'm sure has saved a ton of money! I think it was around £5 and is a must have! Along with some coloured sharpie style pens. I've read the characters find these easier to right with and look really effective, especially if you can match the character with the right colour.
Glow Sticks ~ As with many theme parks, there are always light up bits to buy for a small fortune. So thought I'd pack some of these for the evenings to keep her amused. (She's 2 ~ it'll work?!)

Ice Cream Cupcakes!

I thought I'd jazz up a bake I did almost 2 years ago now for my daughter's Christening, these Ice Cream Cupcakes! For the Christening we baked all the sweets and desserts ourselves on the theme pink. Everything had to be pink. These were certainly one of the most commented on bakes we did. I thought I'd change things up a bit for the summer and put a summertime beach twist on these beauties.

I stick to a very basic sponge recipe, simply because I know it works! You could use a chocolate sponge or add some food colouring to your mix to add some colour.

175g Butter
175g Caster Sugar
3 large Eggs
175g Self Raising Flour
1 tsp Vanila Extract
1 tsp Baking Powder

To achieve these I tried out 2 methods. First time I made these I wrapped the cones in tin foil and pour my mixture in but I have seen them done by pouring the mixture in to a cupcake case, placing the cone on top (prick holes in the bottom of the cone) and bake. Both methods work, as long as for the second, the cone is completely flush with the bottom of the tin.

For the Icing I cheated....but these Betty Crocker buttercream style icing tubs are brilliant and done just the job. Mix in some sprinkle and top with some star decorations and there you have it. Beautiful Ice Cream Cupcakes perfect for summer. I cannot wait to bring these out at the summer BBQs .

Mixing Up The Magic with BritMums & Petits Filous

#MagicSquaresPlaydates

BritMums have teamed up with Petits Filous to promote their new Magic Squares. If at any time you ask Mia what she would like to eat, her answer is Yogurt all day every day so I was super excited to be able to take part in this latest linky challenge and for her to try out these new Petits Filous Magic Squares.

Mix up the magic is all about how we make play fun and imaginative. I for one, am a Pinterest adict. Mia loves nothing more than messy crafty play, which is great throughtout the winter when the weathers cold and there are lots of events to be able to mix up ideas with like Halloween, Christmas, Easter but come the Spring & Summer Mia's favorite type of play is outside.

We spent a large amount of time last year making our garden baby safe and created Mia her own little play area with her playhouse and own little park.

My favourite thing as a child was my Wendy house. I loved nothing more than being in there, creating my own little world. I had a little kitchen in there and would "cook" and play families. When her little friends come to play, they stay entertained for hours just exploring outside, playing and hiding in the playhouse, picking the flowers, digging in the mud and just being out in the fresh air. Mix in a bottle of bubbles and what could be better! It really is the simple things. (It also wears them out the most!)

Mia has always been very good at playing and is very able in amusing herself. I love listening to her talking whilst playing in her little world, her imagination going wild. This is something I am keen to encourage. I've been with children who get bored so very easily and it is because there is no interaction and imagination is lost in computers and video games.

This year, we've been preparing early by growing some flowers and fruit and vegetables together for her own little garden. She's enjoyed helping with the planting, her favourite part has been watering (herself as well as the flowers!)  Last year she loved coming strawberry picking so this year she's got her own little patch at home. She already loves to go out and check on them so I can't wait to see her face when the strawberry's start to appear. She's having fun and unknowingly learning through play.

At Mia's recent 2 and a half year development review, I was told they now advise giving a vitamin supplement particularly for vitamin D (which I already do), because we lack vitamin D in particular. Dairy products contain calcium, but not all contain vitamin D, which is necessary to help the body absorb calcium from food. The Petits Filous Magic Squares not only look and taste great but provide both calcium and vitamin D which help build strong and healthy bones.

Thank you to BritMums who provided a voucher for us to be able to try out Petits Filous Magic Squares. Mia certainly approved and chose to mix up the flavours and eat them together. She's also enjoyed them as a milkshake mixed with some milk! I love that she's enjoying something, when I know it's so good for her.

The Fairytale Hairdresser and the Little Mermaid *Book Review*

The Fairytale Hairdresser and the Little Mermaid
By Abie Longstaff and Lauren Beard

With me being a hairdresser, this title instantly took me eye. Mia often comes in to the salon with me, and takes great interest in what I do (especially now she has hair!) so I was excited to see what this book was all about.
I hadn't heard of these books before, but there are several in the collection and they are a twist on the classic fairytales, this one being The Little Mermaid.

The Little Mermaid is all in a lather - the Sea Witch has stolen her beautiful singing voice! Kittie Lacey, The Fairytale Hairdresser, will need all her hairdressing (and matchmaking) skills to tackle this terrible tangle and guarantee a happy ever after.

The illustrations are beautiful. They're colourful and bright and grab the interest of my little 2 year old. Especially the front cover, it is glittery and sparkles!
She loved the story and the hair dos!

It's a great length, it held both our interests throughout and is great for a bedtime story.

The book is out on the 7th May 2015, To Pre order please click the link below ~

I was sent a copy of this book in order to be able to write this review post. All opinions are my own.

My 12 Happy Months ~ April 2015

So.....where did April go?! However that can only mean we're one month closer to holiday! I'm really enjoying doing these little month by month flashbacks and think they'll be great little posts for me to look back on come the end of the year. So my favourite memories of April...

We kicked off with Easter, Mia was great fun to take part in all our little activites and egg hunts but we also had some quality family time too. Some of our days out included;

Blickling Hall

Wroxham Barns

Pensthorpe Natural Park

I am loving the light sunny evenings which have allowed for some evening walks through the woods too, and getting our garden all set for summer BBQs!

 *Proud Mummy Moment*
In April Mia had her 2 and a half year review. I was nervous, not because I had any worries with her but I guess because she's my first and I obviously think she's doing great but to have someone come in and evaluate her development is daunting! I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The HV was full of praise and so complimentary of her and me, so much so, I almost began to feel broody again! Mia's doing all she's supposed to and more, and when she asked her to thread the string through the cotton reals, Mia ever so politely but surely told her she wasn't happy because there were no pink ones! I hadn't weighed her for a long while so I was please to be told her height and weight could not be any more in proportion! All in all, well done kiddo *Mwah*

May ~ Lots of Disney prep to do, more days out planned and a wedding so lots of pretty photo opportunities.
